Why is Detroit so violent if liberals are supposed to be peaceful?

Wherever there is liberals there is always violence. Ohio, Maryland, Illinois, Michigan, New York, California, etc. The murder rates and violence rates in liberal areas always hit the most dangerous places to live in the world lists and liberals still claim they are peaceful. What gives?
