What are your thoughts on this story intro?

There's nothing that particularly hooks my attention, and it seems that you get a bit repetitive by the end of the second paragraph. Also, it seems a bit of an infodump. Show, don't tell. All and all, it's okay writing, but I'm not sure if I would buy the story. It just doesn't interest me enough.
